PBG Heads to Europe
Philippines Baseball Group Expands Global Reach with European Tour
The Philippines Baseball Group (PBG) continues to break new ground, taking a team to Germany and Austria for a series of competitive games and cultural experiences. This landmark trip not only gave Filipino players the chance to compete internationally but also opened doors for future global opportunities in baseball.
A European Baseball Journey
The PBG team toured Munich, Regensburg, and Vienna, experiencing both the rich culture and growing baseball scene in Europe. The team played competitive games against local clubs, gaining valuable international experience while showcasing Filipino baseball talent on a new stage.
“We’ve always believed in giving our players opportunities beyond the US,” said Bill Picketts, President of Philippines Baseball Group. “This European tour was a major step in proving that Filipino baseball can compete on a global scale.”
Catching Up with Filipino Pros in Europe
A highlight of the trip was reconnecting with Philippines National Baseball Team players Devon Ramirez and Matt Vance, who have made their mark playing professionally in Europe. Seeing them in action and learning from their experiences inspired PBG players to explore baseball careers beyond Asia and North America.
“Meeting Devon and Matt was eye-opening for our players,” said Matt Lopez, NorCal Director and Coach. “It showed them that there are multiple pathways to playing baseball internationally, and Europe is a great option.”
New Opportunities for Filipino Players
Beyond the competition, the trip strengthened connections with European baseball organizations, opening doors for Filipino players to:
- Compete in European leagues that are growing in talent and recognition
- Pursue professional opportunities outside of traditional baseball markets
- Experience cultural exchange while playing the game they love
The success of this trip has encouraged PBG to continue expanding its international presence, with more global tours and partnerships in the works.
The Future of Filipino Baseball on the Global Stage
As PBG pushes for more international exposure, trips like this one serve as a stepping stone toward a future where Filipino players have more opportunities beyond their home country. Whether it’s in Europe, the U.S., or elsewhere, Filipino baseball is making waves—and this is just the beginning.
