Philippines Baseball

President

Bill Picketts

Bill Picketts is the President and Founder of Philippines Baseball Group, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing, developing and promoting Filipino baseball players here in the US as well as the Philippines.

Bill began his collegiate playing career at College of the Canyons, then transferred to Long Beach State.

As a member of the Original Dirtbags team in 1989, Bill played in the College World Series and was eventually drafted in the 12th round by the Oakland Athletics out of Cal State LA.

He became the head coach for Pierce College in 2015.

Head Coach Philippines National Baseball Team

Vince Sagisi

Vince Sagisi is a former Scout for the Cleveland Guardians. He has since moved to the Philippines and been named Director of Baseball Operations for PABA (Philippine Amateur Baseball Association), where he oversees the players and coaches for the men's national baseball team.

Will Picketts

Since ending his collegiate career, he has helped lead the Philippines Baseball Group to spread Filipino baseball awareness worldwide, traveling to the Philippines to work with the Philippines Men’s and Women’s National Baseball Teams, as well as taking various PBG teams to tournaments and showcases around the US.

Will received his master’s degree in Kinesiology from Cal State LA in 2023 and is currently teaching collegiately. He is engaged to Alyssa Rodriguez, his high school sweetheart of over 8 years.

Director of Player Development

Micheal Hymes

Michael Hymes began his college career at LA Pierce College, then moved on to San Jose State University, where he began his coaching career. Currently coaching at LA Valley College, he has produced 10 Gold Glove Award winners at the junior college level. He has also developed a baseball app to teach the fundamentals of infield play. He has traveled to the Philippines to promote baseball and helped coach the Philippines Men's National Team in preparation for major worldwide tournaments.

Kory Breuker

Philippines Baseball Group want to formally introduce Kory Breuker. Breuker joins our team as he will be coacing the middle school and under group. He currently is the JV head coach at Agoura Hills.

PBG Canada Director

Ryan Asis

Ryan Asis began his collegiate baseball career at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, playing at the JUCO level before completing his undergraduate studies at Canisius College. Following graduation, he returned to Canisius as a Graduate Assistant, furthering his experience in coaching and player development.

Upon returning to Canada, Ryan joined the Mississauga Tigers High Performance Program as a coach. Through his involvement in the program, he connected with PBG and co-founded Fil-Can Baseball. The initiative began with Josh Wray as the first assistant, overseeing operations on Canada’s west coast. Since then, the program has expanded, adding Reyna Stevenson, Francis Cubos, and Lia Roque to the coaching staff.

International Ambassador/ PBG NorCal Director

Matt Lopez

Born and raised in San Francisco, Matt earned a scholarship to play baseball at San Jose State University. After San Jose, he continued his playing career in Germany being a player-coach for the Baldham Boars, winning the Bayern League Championship and ending up on the International Baseball Community Top 10 list for Coach of the Year. He moved back to the US, and received his master's degree in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco. He is currently coaching and teaching at St. Ignatius College Prep.

PBG Southwest Director

Chris Murphy

Known as "Coach Murph" on social media (@icoachbaseball), has amassed 350,000 followers in his mission to impact as many players as possible through relatable, understandable, fundamental coaching. Through Philippines Baseball (@philippinesbaseball), Not Your Average Baseball (@nyabaseball), and my own private coaching. He had just returned from coaching clinics in The Philippines. He emphasizes the power of video and the internet to make coaching more effective and accessible for the millions of players he impacts around the world through his social media content and online coaching.
